REVIEW: Magnoli Slub Cotton No Time To Die Henley
For about half the price as the original Rag & Bone version, you can get something nearly identical without sacrificing any quality. The Magnoli Slub Cotton Henley is made from an ivory fabric with special slub-texture weave meaning it's very soft and quite warm. The front placket closes with three distressed buttons that look as though they were taken from the original Rag & Bone and placed on this version. They really paid attention to the details beyond the just the buttons. The ribbed cuffs and seam down the back make this version so close to the original, you would have a tough time telling the two apart from a short distance.
Magnoli has done a great job of re-creating something that is very soft to the touch and wears extremely well. What I love too, is that it doesn't wrinkle much when I wear it under a sweater, meaning it can be perfect as a base layer you can still wear on it's own if you get too hot and want to take off a sweater or jacket. It's got a perfect amount of weight and thickness to it as well that just screams quality. No corners were cut here trying to mimic the same look and feel as what we see in the film.
The fact that this henley looks identical to the one in the film gives you a feeling like you are James Bond while wearing this piece. With the Magnoli version, the only problem I can see people running into is sizing. I am 5'10" and 175lbs and I got the small. It fits me perfectly meaning anyone smaller than me might have a tough time getting a good/screen accurate slim fit.
I used the photos in this article from the Magnoli website so that you can get a fair representation of the sizing. Here is a note from Magnoli regarding the size: These have a less slim fit than our other t-shirts. The model shown has a 40" chest, is 6' 0" tall and is wearing the size small.
I'm not a henley guy, this is the first one I've ever owned. Having said that, I'm finding myself wearing this more and more, especially as the days turn colder. It's a little dressier than your simple white t-shirt but without losing any of the comfort or practicality of one.
