Thursday Boots - Scout Review
It’s no secret to those who follow me here or my family, I love the Crockett and Jones Molton boots that will be seen in No Time To Die. They are fashionable yet durable and can be worn in a variety of situations, just what a secret agent needs to do his job. What I don’t like? The price! I have heard nothing but great things about Crockett and Jones including their comfort and construction, it’s just very hard for me to spend $595usd on a pair of boots.
This is where the Thursday Boot Company comes in. They sent me a pair of their ‘SCOUT’ Chukka Boots in Mocha to review and compare with the C&J Moltons. I’ve been wearing the Scouts for about a month now and they have been fantastic. An absolutely great pair of less expensive alternatives that give you the exact same look and feel as the ones we’ll be seeing in the film. The only real difference between the 2 boots at a glance is the 2 vs 3 eyelets on the front. The suede, the shape and the height of the boots are nearly identical. Just like the Moltons, these are handcrafted boots that are excellently made.
As you can see from the diagram above, the Scouts are made from a WeatherSafe™ Suede upper provides a beautiful finish and a durability that you can trust in poor and wet weather. With boots like these, you don’t want to have to worry about if it’s going to rain or not. You want to just put them on and head out on your next mission. The Studded rubber outsoles give you the extra grip you need on all surfaces…perfect for running for the bus or chasing down a bad guy in the forest. The Cork-Bed Midsoles form to your feet over time for all-day comfort and have proven really comfortable when I wear them for hours at a time. Stitchout construction makes your boots water resistant and completely re-soleable if or when needed. To me, the one of the best parts is the colour match between the Scout and the Molton's - it is nearly identical giving you an amazing alternative in every sense of the word.
I’ve really liked wearing these with jeans or khaki pants. They give your outfit an elevated look very simply and I’ve gotten a ton of compliments on these from friends and family. On their website, Thursday Boots say these are “the chukka for a new generation. Blending classic British style with our own American aesthetic to be more durable and versatile, this chukka will live up to the demands of long days on your feet year after year.” I can’t wait to see how these perform in the long term, but as it stands today, they have been my go-to pair of boots/shoes since they’ve arrived.
One note to mention is the break in period. These took a few days to really meld to my foot. I suggest wearing these boots around the house for an hour or two a day before you really start to use them. Once they break in, they are super comfortable. Thursday Boots also suggests ordering a half size smaller than you normally wear in sneakers. I got an 8.5 US and found it a little tight for the 1st few wears. After using a shoe tree to stretch the boot out a little they do feel much better, but my feet were a little jammed in there at first. I would warn a little about getting the half size smaller if you are worried. I know it’s tough to order something like this online without trying them on, so personally if I were to do it again, I’d go with my usual size 9 as I’d prefer them to be a tad bigger than smaller. They do offer easy returns and if you’ve ordered the wrong size or have any other issue, you can always exchange or return your order for free within the contiguous U.S. so long as:
- Your items are unworn, undamaged, in re-sellable condition (i.e. no creases or wear on soles), and in their original packaging.
- Your return request is submitted within 30 days of receiving your original order.
- International return info can be found HERE.
I also wanted to note, the customer service was excellent when I contacted them via email and they responded very fast to my inquiries on their Instagram DM's as well.
Overall, I cannot recommend these boots enough. They give you the same exact look Bond has in No Time To Die for a fraction of the price without sacrificing quality and comfort. I know there are a lot of alternatives out there, but these ones are the closest I have found to the C&J Moltons. You will feel like a secret agent every time you are out on assignment in these boots. 10/10
